Discovery of the astatine, radon, francium, and radium isotopes

چکیده
Currently, thirty-nine astatine, thirty-nine radon,??? isotopes have so far been observed; the discovery of these isotopes is discussed. For each isotope a brief summary of the first refereed publication, including the production and identification method, is presented. ∗Corresponding author. Email address: [email protected] (M. Spectrum Quantification of Radium Isotopes in Hydraulic Fracturing Wastes
Exploration of oil and natural gas from shale deposits can bring to the surface radioactivity. Naturally occurring Uranium-238 and Thorium-232 as part of their decay chains can produce radium isotopes, which are themselves precursors of radon gas. Due to the solubility of radium and its contaminated impact on the environments and health concerns, regulations on the levels of Ra226 and Ra228 in ...
متن کاملMeasurement of radium concentration and radon exhalation rates of soil samples collected from some areas of Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, India using plastic track detectors
Background: Radon is an odourless, colourless and tasteless gas and it is the first cause of lung cancer among non- smokers. The assessment of the level of radium in building materials helps in understanding the radiological implications. It has been observed that everyone has some levels of exposure to them. Therefore measurement of radium and radon in the soil samples are important f...
متن کاملA Tale of 7 Elements. By Eric Scerri
There is a plethora of books on the discovery of the chemical elements, such as Discovery of the Elements by M. E. Weeks. Most of these focus on the abundant and well-known elements. The book by Eric Scerri, in contrast, describes the history of the discovery of the periodic table s rarest members, some of which have no detectable natural abundance at all. In his previous book The Periodic Tabl...
متن کامل2. RELEVANCE TO PUBLIC HEALTH 2.1 BACKGROUND AND ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES TO RADON IN THE UNITED STATES Radon is a noble gas formed from the natural radioactive decay of uranium (U) and thorium
Radon is a noble gas formed from the natural radioactive decay of uranium (U) and thorium (Th), natural components of the earth’s crust, which decay to radium (Ra) and then to radon (Rn). Decay chains include Ra and Rn for U; Ra and Rn for U; and Ra and Rn for Th. As radium decays, radon is formed and released into pores in the soil. Fissures and pores in the substrate allow the radon to migrat...
متن کاملThe effective radium content and radon exhalation rate in hair dyes samples
Background: Hair dyes are the important materials widely used by various peoples in Iraq and other countries. The present work investigates the presence of the effective radium content and radon exhalation rate in hair dyes samples. Materials and Methods: Twenty hair dyes samples were collected from Iraqi markets. Sealed can technique using LR-115 type II plastic track detector s ha...
